Functional features
Our advanced insulation materials deliver remarkable resistance against the destructive effects of high-voltage arc phenomena. Typically, an arc flame causes carbonization on the surface of insulating materials until they conduct electricity. The duration for the arc to extinguish is measured in seconds. Utilizing two precisely placed tungsten electrodes on the sample plate, the arc starts as intermittent and then shortens over time, resulting in a continuous arc as current increases. The material experiences progressively intense arc conditions until failure. Arc resistance is pivotal for insulating materials in high-voltage and low-voltage high-current switches, as they are often exposed to arcs in use. Only materials with outstanding arc resistance are deemed suitable.
Incorporated within electrical and electronic devices, insulating materials subjected to high-voltage, low-current arc discharges show unique surface damage near the arc. These discharges prompt localized thermal and chemical degradation and erosion, ultimately forming a conductive path on the material, signifying test failure upon achieving conductivity.
Complying with standards such as GB1411, IEC61621, ASTMC495, and UL746A, our Arc Resistance Tester is an essential tool for simulated safety testing processes.
Designed to meet exacting standards, the arc resistance tester is equipped with detailed electrical schematics and precision-crafted electrodes.
